In 1988 a search began for a new member of the family, at that point I didn’t know how hard it would be to find one and in the end how close I had been to many with out even know.

May books where purchased and read , many visits to the library and many phone calls made.

In 1989 I had the pleasure of chatting to a wonderful lady called Libby Hunter, after many phone calls and exchanging of photos I purchased from her -      Laskana Arctic Cheetah – and for that I am truly thankful.

Thank you -Libby Hunter

During our many conversations and prior to purchasing Nikki – Libby put me in contact with Gillian Uren . Who would have guessed she only lived 2 minutes from where I worked !! I had a lovely time visiting and meet her , her husband & and their malamutes.

Gillian was the one that informed me of the history the breed had in this country and the ” Syme family” and all they had done to bring the breed into Australia.

Shortly after meeting Gillian – I was put in contact with Tonya Syme.

Thank you – Gillian Uren

Tonya had a litter due and kindly shared with me her & her families experience with the breed, the pedigree of the litter due .  She showed me the expectant mother  & father of the litter and gave me a very cute picture of an Eskimo Child playing with a puppy.

Thank you – Tonya Syme

Nikki came into my life in the October 1989 and we started off going to obedience , then got into show in early 1990.

By mid 1990 I started to look for a companion for Nikki and during my time showing I met Michelle & Phil Cadman – Amarock Kennels.

By July 1990 Amarock Kennels had a litter on the way and I asked to purchase pick male , to start what I hoped would be the beginnings of my own kennel.

By September 1990 Maverick -Amarock Aces Eagle , came to join my family.Whether he was or wasn’t the pick of litter – remains to be of individual opinion , but to me he was my boy!!

Thank you – Amarock Kennels

Maverick was a great dog and a true male, I could get that dog to do anything I asked he was truly amazing and as with Nikki – I miss them every day. Maverick wasn’t going to make the grade as a Stud dog as planned as he suffered from Hemeralopia aka Day Blindness. So whilst his show career was cut short by his desexing his life certainly was not and he lived until he was 14 yrs old.

By the time Maverick crossed over Rainbow Bridge I had started to study Homeopathy in 2003. One of the other student was Helen Hill of Mezen Samoyeds. After Mavericks passing Helen gave my the most precious gift – Oberon – Mezen Medieval Magic.

Thank you – Helen Hill

I now had a different breed in my life and one that will always be special , but wanting another malamute , I was advised that Tonya Syme was having a litter. So some 14 years after our first meeting I purchased Chimo Apollo. He was my “re start” in malamutes . Apollo is an amazing dog with a wonderful attitude and a great dog to have around ,  due to his open bite  & combined with an unfortunate accident where he broke his jaw sadly he never made a show dog for long , although an absolute pleasure to have in the yard. Apollo is the wonderful old man of the yard.

Thank you – Tonya Syme

Enjoying being back in the show ring and having fun exhibiting at both ends of the group 6 alphabet , Helen offered me the opportunity to bring another Samoyed into my life. Whilst her arrival was delayed by my unexpected arrival of child number 3 – Zachary, Aurora – Mezen Fortunata Aurora came into our family in 2005.

Thank you -Helen Hill

Helen & I formed a firm friendship as I exhibited her wonderful dogs, we visited many shows together and shared many family moments . During this time we pondered on one day importing a dog – which would give us new bloodlines to work with and help me formulate my own Samoyed breeding plan. It was to take quite a few years in the process ,but working through it and researching was a wonderful way to learn.

In the meantime I also worked on my breeding plan for my malamutes and what direction I should take , looking for bitch an opportunity arose to lease one.
